Congratulations to PhD student Spencer Carlson for his paper acceptance to Collective Intelligence 2020. His paper is titled, “Supporting Knowledge of Design Risks in Collective Intelligence Efforts,” and addresses an approach to supporting novices in collective intelligence.

Congratulations to Dan Rees-Lewis for being selected by the National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship Program as 1 of 30 early career scholars working in critical areas of education research.

A belated congratulations to Design Thinking for Teens for receiving the a Google Education Grant! DT4Treceived a Google Education grant to fund high school teachers to attend professional development classes that will help them bring back design thinking to their classrooms. 

DT4T partners with teens, teachers and local nonprofits to bring a free design thinking program into schools and was started by Oliver Greenwald in partnership with Design for America.

Design for America celebrated its 10th birthday at the annual Design Summit at Northwestern University. We talked about the power of community with 300+ friends and family of Design for America. We are grateful to the generous support of McCormick School of Engineering and many others over the past decade. We are looking forward to the next decade!

We were honored to be receive the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt Design Museum’s Institutional Excellence Award for lasting achievement in American Design in 2018. Previous winners include Apple and Nike.

Design for America hosted hundreds of students, alumni, and thought leaders in early August to learn and do human centered design in their local communities. Check out the video of the students’ design sprint.
